Roof Insurance Claims Terminology
Monumental Construction has a team of trained roofers. Simply ask for assistance if you have any questions about the procedure. Meanwhile, here are some common roof claim terminology to be aware of:
RCV Stands For Replacement Cost Value
If you have RCV coverage on your policy, your insurer will pay you a lump sum to replace your damaged property with “like” sort. The insurer would pay out enough to restore your property to its pre-loss condition in the event of a damaged roof.
ACV Stands For “Actual Cash Value.”
If your insurance includes ACV coverage, the reimbursement will not be based on restoring your roof to its original state, but rather on compensating you for the current market value of the damaged property. The payment will be reduced if the roof was in poor condition prior to the incident.
Depreciation is subtracted from the RCV to arrive at the ACV.
Depreciation
The age and usable life of the roof are used to compute depreciation. Note that depending on your property insurance coverage, some depreciation may be recoverable.
